How the Exams Work

Each exam takes one question from every group in the pool, so a Technician or General exam has 35 questions and the Extra has 50. You need 26, 26 and 37 correct respectively. The answers are not reworded on the day — what you read here is what you will see.

The pools are written by the Question Pool Committee of the National Conference of Volunteer Examiner Coordinators (NCVEC) and are in the public domain. Each one is used for four years and occasionally corrected along the way; questions that have been withdrawn are left out here. The official source is always ncvec.org ↗.

Practice exams run entirely in your browser. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
